NEW DECORATING IDEA: A FLORAL CAKE!!!!

Ok so this is my first decorating idea; I think that it looks quite pretty:) This is a recipe just for a decoration, not for an actual cake!

Ingredients:

For white fondant:

  1. 7 cups powder sugar
  2. 1/2 cup of glucose syrup
  3. 7 g gelatin
  4. 1/4 cold water
  5. 1 tbsp glycerine
  6. 2 tbsp butter
  7. about 1/2 tsp violet food coloring
  8. Flower shaped cookie cutters
  9. A cake:)
Instructions:

  1. Combine gelatin with water. Leave it until it thickens. Then heat it in the double boiler until it's dissolved. Add glucose and glycerine and mix it. Add butter and also mix until dissolved. Let it cool
  2. Sift the powder sugar into the big bowl. Add the gelatin mixture to half of the powder sugar and mix with a wooden spoon. Then add another half of the sugar, a little at a time, and start to knead the mixture with hands. When it's smooth and doesn't stick to your hands- your fondant is ready! Use immediately or refrigerate in the airtight container.
  3. Detach 3 half of fist size balls from the fondant and add some food coloring to them. A bit to the 1st, a bit more to the 2nd and even more to the 3rd so that they have different intensities of color.
  4. Sprinkle the worktop with potato starch and roll out the white fondant, but before measure the length of the cake (don't forget about the sides!) so that the circle that you will roll out has the right diameter. Then put the roller at the beginning of the circle and sort of wrap the roller with the fondant. Then hold the wrapped roller at the edge of the cake and cover the cake with the fondant by "unwrapping" the roller above the cake. Flatten the fondant with hands. Cut of the fondant leftovers.
  5. Roll out the purple balls and cut off the flowers with flower cutters. Then stick them to the cake with glucose syrup, honey or even water.

I hope that you understand my instructions. In the internet there are many videos that will help you with covering the cake with fondant:) Good luck with preparing the cake !!!
